Eco-Friendly Holi Celebrated This Year

Holi, the traditional festival is widely celebrated all over India, symbolizing the end of Evil, in a bon-fire. House hold waste material, logs of wood are burnt every year in the name of Holi celebration. Over the recent years, it has posed a grave threat for nature.
This year, in Sagroli, Holi was celebrated in a different manner.  A lake, spread over an area of 15 acres, is located towards the western side of Sagroli village. This was turned into a dumping yard. Consequentially, the pollution multiplied leaving no scope for the usage of water for any purpose.

As was decided, more than a thousand school children gathered at the lake around 5 PM on 6th March .  They separated wet and dry garbage, plastic water bottles, wrappers, carry bags and heaps of paper. Those all were set on fire.  The entire lake was cleaned in a couple of hours. This novel way of the social work has been appreciated all over.
