A Two-Day MGNERGA Workshop Conducted

Ahead a drought condition, farmers and laborers have to confront crucial stressful situations. Taking this into account, a workshop for two days was conducted during 1st and 2nd April. The objective was to explain around 50 volunteers working in 5 different NGOs in the surrounding with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Mr. Pramod Zinzate, the president of Mahatma Phule Social Work Council, Solapur was the chief resource for the workshop.
The drought conditions so far have worsened situation all over for both farmers and rural laborers. The scarcity of water and with no work to do in the farms, rural laborers have been struggling to earn their bread and butter.
The volunteers were given inputs about providing guaranteed employment or compensating allowance for the laborers under MGNREGA.  They were also facilitated with the information about various documents required, approaching Govt. officials and the follow up.  They were suggested to form laborers committees in every village for the coordination with Govt. officials for providing them work instantly.

All the volunteers and their respective NGOs will play a role of nodal agency between the laborers and the Government.  SSM also has a key role of providing all sorts of assistance and guidance as and when required and Progressive Friends Circle, an NGO in Mukhed is to supervise the proceedings in this regard.
